ELA Celebrates World Mother Language Day

This week, the ELA community celebrated World Mother Language Day, a worldwide annual observance that promotes awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multiculturalism, two key cornerstones of ELA’s mission.
This year, Escuela Lomas Altas librarian, Prof. Garreth, organised a day of reading the Jack and the Beanstalk story in over seven languages, from Portuguese and Japanese to Filipino and Polish. Each language pertained to a different member of the incredibly diverse ELA Community. It was fascinating to listen to the cultural nuances in diction and emphasis that exist across borders.
Below you will find a short video of the event.
