September Recap

Welcome back, ELA Family! As we leap into the 2024-2025 school year, we are filled with excitement and energy. We hope everyone enjoyed a fantastic summer break, and we are eager to dive into another year brimming with learning, laughter, and success!

This September, our community came together to celebrate Mexico’s rich history as we celebrated our national independence day. With joy and pride, students and families engaged in festivities that highlighted the vibrant traditions and cultural heritage of our country. This celebration not only strengthened our appreciation for Mexico’s history but also fostered a sense of unity within our diverse school community. ge #EscuelaLomasAltas

In a momentous achievement, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our incredible staff for successfully completing our IB Evaluation with flying colours! This milestone is particularly significant as we celebrate 25 years of Escuela Lomas Altas’s IB endorsement. Our journey began in 1999 when our Head of School, Miss Jackie, discovered this transformative program at a conference in Toronto. Her vision has continually shaped our curriculum, encouraging critical thinking and nurturing globally-aware, compassionate learners.

As pioneers of the IB World School philosophy in Mexico, our commitment to excellence remains steadfast, setting a benchmark in international education. We salute our dedicated staff for their hard work and determination in making this milestone year a great success!

Our students are off to a fantastic start with their Units of Inquiry, showcasing the IB spirit of exploration and inquiry-based learning across all grades. Our Pre-First students have engaged in hands-on activities focused on nutrition, identifying and classifying the six food groups. Their creativity shone as they shared personal stories about healthy choices, fostering a deeper understanding of what it means to eat well.

Meanwhile, in 5th Grade, students dove into sustainability, exploring ecological, social, and economic goals. They examined the responses of humans to contemporary demographic and environmental challenges, diligently forming their own organizations to tackle the issues they identified, solidifying their roles as proactive change-makers within their communities.

In KIII, students utilized their knowledge to create detailed maps of Mexico, refining their geography skills while collaborating with classmates to share and discuss their creations. Through playful learning centres, they practised foundational skills like patterns and letter recognition, laying a solid groundwork for future academic endeavours.

September has truly been a testament to our vibrant spirit and unwavering commitment to educational excellence. As we reflect on these accomplishments, let’s carry forward the enthusiasm and values that define Escuela Lomas Altas as we embark on the adventures ahead. Here’s to a fantastic school year together!
